Description LockheedMartinâs Victor Portfolio of Space Security is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join an Agile, crossâfunctional team dedicated to protecting critical space assets. This role will focus on developing webâbased applications within an openâarchitecture infrastructure that supports missionâcritical spaceâsecurity operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal development teams and subjectâmatter experts, and thrive in a fastâpaced environment where each day brings new challenges.
Key Responsibilities FullâLifecycle Development â Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain web applications and services that enable spaceâasset protection. Agile Collaboration â Participate in Scrum ceremonies (standâups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute to continuousâimprovement of team processes. OpenâArchitecture Integration â Build modular, reusable components that conform to openâarchitecture standards and facilitate integration with existing and future mission systems.
Technical Leadership â Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive adoption of best practices (CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding, performance profiling). Stakeholder Engagement â Work closely with domain experts to translate mission needs into technical solutions. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, and must maintain the required security throughout the course of employment.
Basic Qualifications Proficiency in modern languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript; strong understanding of objectâoriented design and principles. Handsâon experience with RESTful APIs, HTML5, CSS3, modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue), and UI/UX best practices. Familiarity with pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and version control (Git).
Proven track record working in Scrum or Kanban teams; comfortable with iterative development and rapid feedback cycles. US citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance. Active DOD Top Security Clearance with an investigation or Continuous Vetting (CV) date within 5 years.
Desired Skills Experienced with Horizon software application providing command and control services for satellites, antennas, and ground hardware assets. Experience in application containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift). Handsâon experience with RESTful APIs, HTML5, CSS3, modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue), and UI/UX best practices.
Domain Experience in Mission Management, Planning and Scheduling, Orbital Mechanics, SSA (Space Situational Awareness). Security Clearance Statement This position requires a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Top Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years. Work Information Location: Onsite Fullâtime at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Schedule: 9x80 with every other Friday off.
